Little recognition is given those women who quietly and without complaint do the work of raising families. Shirley was a master of the quiet arts: a wonderful mother and grandmother, talented story teller, gifted writer and poet, crossword puzzle queen, passionate reader, and kind and loving friend. She was a woman of her time, a lady in a world where there are precious few. We will miss our loyal, quick-witted, wonderful friend, grandmother, and beloved mother.
“Don’t let your sword be made of paper or let your spirit die, don’t be too bored with living, too tired to try”- Shirley Day Campbell
The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque, Dr Koenigs, and Joyce for making it possible for our mother to be at home during her last days. We could not have managed without their loving kindness.
