Mary Jo Hartwig was born November 7, 1926 the daughter of La Verne and Anna (Bright) Webster.  She was employed at the Savanna Ordinance Depot for 17 years.  Mary Jo graduated from Cuba City High School  in 1944. She married George Schuler Hartwig on August 9, 1958 in Mount Carroll. They had one son, Kendall Hartwig.  George proceeded her in death on September 5, 2005.  They farmed with George's brother John and sister in law Harriet, on farmland which is now the Midwest Medical Center and part of the golf course.  They retired from farming and moved to Galena in 1992.   Mary Jo was a member of the United Methodist Church in Galena, a member of the VFW auxiliary and enjoyed doing ceramics.  Mary was greatly devoted to her family, she loved visiting all her relatives and helping her handicapped niece, Patty Hartwig.  On her recent 90th birthday many relatives and friends came to celebrate and show their love.  Mary Jo had many relatives including her brothers and sisters, Ila Schuster, Lillian (Doug), June (John), Rodney (Judy), Jean (Lyle), Orva (Burdette), Viola (Merlin), and many in laws, nieces and nephews.  She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, George, sister, Varna and brothers Lyle, Burdette and Merlin, along with many in laws.  The family would like to thank friend and caretaker Jaclyn Houy, all the great people at the Galena nursing home and the kind people at Hospice of Dubuque.
